General Information

Project Redstoneworld is a long-standing and expansive Minecraft project that began on January 18, 2013, originally conceived and developed by renowned Minecraft creator TheJoCraft. What started as a private island build with redstone and commands sprinkled in between—now known as Founding Island—quickly evolved into one of the most enduring and intricate redstone worlds ever created within the Minecraft community.

A significant catalyst for the project occurred in mid-2014 when a player known as Ijd discovered the world. Captivated by its complexity and potential, Ij became deeply invested in its preservation and growth. When TheJoCraft officially ended active development on Redstoneworld in 2016 following the completion and release of Tower 1, Ij stepped forward to continue its legacy. He started this with the creation of the BTCC protocol (Bugfix, Translate, Continue, Complete) which would be applied to all continuation projects. His first major initiative in this was translating the entirety of the world into English, aiming to broaden its accessibility to a global audience beyond its original German-speaking fanbase.

However, what began as a translation effort soon transformed into something far more ambitious. Ij envisioned not just preserving the world, but expanding upon it—building new redstone creations, refining existing structures, and gradually transforming Redstoneworld into a living, ever-evolving archive of redstone innovation and collaborative storytelling.

This philosophy of continuation extended beyond Redstoneworld itself. Ij began applying the same methodology to several other discontinued projects by TheJoCraft, breathing new life into them and integrating them into a cohesive narrative and technical universe. These efforts culminated in The Great Merge of 2020, a landmark event in which all of Ij’s continuation projects—including Redstoneworld—were unified into a single, monumental Minecraft world.

Today, Project Redstoneworld (Post-Merge Era) stands as both a historical archive and an active creative space. It continues to grow with new redstone constructions, architectural marvels, and immersive zones contributed by a dedicated team of builders and engineers. Spanning over a decade of development, the world reflects not only the evolution of Minecraft’s redstone mechanics but also the collaborative spirit of its community.

Server IP

To join in on the fun, any player can join the server! The server ip is mc.theredstoneworld.net. The server runs on 1.20.4, but you are able to join on versions 1.7 or later. However, it is recommended to join with a version of at least 1.18 or later, so that the map above Y=256 and below Y=0 is accessible.

In case you are joining on bedrock, you can use bedrock.theredstoneworld.net, port 19132. If the Geyser software is out of date, please notify Ij by DMing him directly on the Discord.

Redstoneworld Sectors

Project Redstoneworld has many Sectors for players to explore. The first sector to explore (the one closest to spawn) is called Founding Island. It is the oldest sector in RW and has builds dating back to 2013. It is considered as the central sector of the map. Founding Island also contains the closest bunker to spawn: The FI Bunker.

The sector next to Founding Island is the RTC, or Redstone Tower Complex. It is mainly comprised of two towers, Tower 2 and Tower 3.0, also known as RTC 1 and RTC 2, respectively. Tower 2 is mostly done and is distinguished from Tower 3.0 due to its greater proximity to the bridge shops and its antenna which emits radiation.

Redstoneworld Staff

Redstoneworld staff build the map actively! Anyone above the age of 13 with at least 5 hours of server playtime can apply through the form that can be found on the Redstoneworld Discord server. Players who are a little under this age may be given an exception if they ask Ij directly ingame, and will not likely be able to surpass the Team Member rank until the age of 13.

Yes, Redstoneworld does have an official website: https://theredstoneworld.net/, which is mostly maintained by Ij. The home page features the 12 year anniversary edit, which can also be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tV2R4TescU, on Ij’s YouTube channel. Ij’s channel also hosts the Redstoneworld devlogs. Additionally, the Discord server invite can be found on the website as well.
